Snow cliffs on the south side of Booth Island rise high above Salpêtrière Bay. Booth Island defines the western edge of the Lemaire Channel.

Kyiv (Beneath Clouds Not Missles)

Salpêtrière Bay

Draped in snow, Booth Island, which rises to nearly 1,000 meters (more than 3,200 feet), wraps around ice-filled Salpêtrière Bay. Gentoo penguins, seen here, are one of three species found on the Island, together with Chinstraps and Adélies.
