A colony of gentoo penguins during a spring snow storm on Booth Island of the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula.
With recently fallen snow blowing, a gentoo penguin walks from where colony members enter and leave the water of Charcot Harbor.
Draped in snow, Booth Island, which rises to nearly 1,000 meters (more than 3,200 feet), wraps around ice-filled Salpêtrière Bay. Gentoo penguins, seen here, are one of three species found on the Island, together with Chinstraps and Adélies.
